I thought this week was going to be a bit easier since Monday was a professional development day and Tuesday we had off for Election Day. But noooo! I had to go and cram my schedule full.
Monday, I invited three girls over for chocolate fondue.
The idea originated as a thank you to Keri, the coworker who spearheaded my work shower. Unfortunately, I totally forgot about the whole "my house is covered in a layer of dust from construction" thing. So, I spent a huge chunk of Sunday and Monday (after work) scrambling to dust and clean. It was literally so bad that I decided for sanity's sake to just close off the basement and focus on the upstairs. On top of it, I decided to make this homemade soup for us before the girls arrived. (This is one of our "go-to" winter soups. It freezes well if you leave out the zucchini and pasta or I'll make it for friends who are sick or just had babies.)
About an hour before the girls were set to arrive, I decided to check my FB for messages. There were two messages from two of the three girls saying that they were sick and afraid to get me or Raechel (who are both pregnant) sick! I had forgotten my phone in my car where there were several more messages from both trying to reach me. So now I'm thinking, "How in the world will Raechel and I eat all of this fondue!?!" (I mean, I'm sure we could, but not sure we should!) Though it was short notice, I called another girl and invited her to join us. It ended up being perfect. I hadn't seen Cat in quite some time, so it was good to catch up. And then Raechel's husband, Andrew, and Tim were more than happy to eat some of the leftovers after the girl party was over.
Tuesday, I had a doctor's appointment (things continue to look perfect) followed by lunch at Simply Thai with three of my former coworkers from TAPP, Brooke, Claudette, and Kim. (Can I just say -- OMG -- the Chicken Massaman Curry was UH-MAZ-ing!?! This picture doesn't do it justic, but...TRUST ME. I want to eat it every day for like a month straight. And then I'll follow it with a month of Little India Cafe...and then a month of Queen of Sheba...and then a month of Al Watan. Oh how I wish Tim liked places like that more!)

Anyway, it was super fun to spend a few moments with my TAPP peeps and catch up. Brooke is due in May with her second, so it was exciting to share in her good news.
Between my doctor's appointment and lunch, Mom had called to tell me she was going to drive up to Louisville. She had some things to drop by and she also offered to help me paint. The carpet people were coming Friday, so we had to get our guest room painted before Friday. Though it was a little hectic at moments keeping Lucas occupied, I am so glad Mom stopped by. I was totally overwhelmed. Before priming, the room had to be vacuumed and prepped. My super pregnant state did not help matters. It was nice to have my momma there to help me out. Together, we prepped the room and put on a coat of low VOC primer. After Mom left, I did a bit more painting and then showered for our 7 pm baby class at Baptist East. The class lasted two hours and then we came home. I prepped my classes for the next day and tidied upstairs while Tim painted the ceiling.
Wednesday, the electrician came to finish his work in the room. When I got home from work, I put together the baby stroller.

Then, I spackled the trim in the guest room. Once Tim got home, we spent the rest of the evening painting the room.
Thursday, I got home and sanded the trim that I had spackled the previous day. Then, we had another baby class. Fortunately, it was only an hour. So, we were home by 8:30 pm. I then taped off the trim for Tim so he could paint. (I didn't help with the ceiling paint or trim because we couldn't get low VOC.)
Friday, the carpet people came. Tim and I were delighted to be able to FINALLY take up the plastic on the stairs and around the room. After cleaning and vacuuming, we rewarded ourselves for a tough week with pulled pork from the Old Hickory Pit and then we watch Tangled...well, I watched Tangled. Tim was out after like 10 minutes. Poor guy. He is still sick. And he's been trying to juggle the demands of work and home in addition to just feeling lousy.
Saturday morning, we woke up bright and early to go to IKEA. Trust me, I tried to find a way to avoid this trip, but it is by far the most affordable furniture that I could find. And to have furniture shipped from there would cost $300+. Traffic was pretty lousy at times, but we made it there and back by 6 pm. Here's my "inspiration room."
We then had 1 1/2 hours to shower, get food, and make it to Louisville's YPAS (Youth Performing Arts School) to watch The Wedding Singer. Belinda Hafell's daughter, Rachel, had the starring female role as Julia. It was a really fun show, but (Whew!) I was tired.
So tired, in fact, that I struggled a lot Sunday. After church, we went to lunch with a couple and their two kids. Then, I had about two hours to get my grocery shopping done before an evening Bible Study. I had planned to use one of those hours to do school work...instead a "20 minute" nap turned into an hour nap. I hate taking naps, but I just couldn't help myself! I scrabbled to get my groceries before our evening meeting. Once I got home, it then took several hours to do all of the school work that I had procrastinated. I'm trying not to think of the TWELVE weeks of lesson plans that I need to create over Thanksgiving Break.
On the pregnancy front, Tim and I are getting closer and closer with agreeing on a name. I continue to feel pretty good...I definitely do feel VERY pregnant, but I'm trying to enjoy the moment and stay positive. I continue to really enjoy seeing and feeling him move. (Though I will admit that there are moments where it kind of hurts!) All in all, I just feel supremely blessed by the ability to be pregnant. And we are so excited to meet our son. Tim had several moments this weekend where he put his arm around me and his hand on my stomach and then he said, "My little family." I'm so happy. And so thankful.
